With mid-october comes a few days off of school (psuedo-fall break). This year, my parents and brother came to visit! It was so nice having them here, especially since i hadn't seen my brother for over 2 years! The weather was wonderful (near 60s and sunny) while they were here and we were able to hit a pumpkin patch and visit Fort Snelling this weekend.

Our visitors arrived Thursday mid-day. My father and brother were out pheasant hunting in eastern SD for the previous several days, then my mom met up with them and they drove to MN together. Along with my family, several dead pheasants also came to our apartment (I think around 15). Bob and Dad even cooked some of the birds up on Friday night for a little feast (the recipe they used is
here). I'm told it was good eats - though I didn't attempt any myself. We also celebrated my mom's birthday (next Tuesday) while we were all together :)

Friday we went to a pumpkin patch to find some pumpkins to carve for Halloween and to get some pictures of Colin with his red hair around pumpkins. We went to the Pine Tree Orchard, up near Stillwater MN. It was a beautiful day, and we had fun walking through the fields to find some good pumpkins.

Saturday my brother had to leave :( After we dropped him off, we headed to Fort Snelling to walk around and learn some history. We managed to catch a cannon firing and walked through many of the old buildlings - in fact the oldest building in MN is at Fort Snelling! Again, a very beautiful and enjoyable day.
It was a lovely long weekend. Thanks to my family for making the trip. Happy fall!
