Colin and Grandma got to spend some quality time with each other this past weekend. Bob and I left for the Boundary Waters along with Uncle Mitch, Miranda, Nana, Papa, and Grandpa on Wednesday afternoon for venturing into Gabbro Lake on Thursday. I think Grandma and Colin got along well - especially with such a short 'get to know you' period before we pulled out of town. In addition, great-grandma Lovey came to visit while we were gone and one of my mom's oldest and best friends came on Saturday as well. I'm glad that they had such a good time! Of course, I think that my mom is probably ready for some Colin-free time now :) He's a busy boy!

Our trip was very nice. The ride up to BWCA was very wet, with lots of rain forecast for Thursday and the weather did not disappoint. It was 'relatively' dry on the morning we went in, at least until we reached the end of the first portage, at which point it definitely started raining, and we were all drenched shortly afterwards. It was a nice short paddle from Little Gabbro Lake to Gabbro Lake, and we found a really nice campsite for our stay. The campsite was large enough to support our 4 tents for our 7 person party, and had some nice high ground which turned out to be quite important. The rain continued all day into the evening, with some thunder and lightening thrown in as well. We managed to get camp set up, with 3 tarps and tents to wait out the rain.
The next two days were a nice respite from the rain. The sun came out, and we even made a day trip up to Turtle Lake where the rumors were true about big Northern Pike. Here are a few photos from our trip!

When we got back to civilization, it was really good to see our little boy again! It is strange how only a few days really make a difference in even his appearance. When we got back, we spent the night with Mitch, Miranda, Lovey and my parents, then Mitch, Miranda and Lovey left the next morning. We spend the rest of the day assembling a new kid table my parents bought for Colin, before saying goodbye to my parents, and then heading over to the Kuczenski's to finish unpacking.
Here are a few pictures of Colin using his new table! He loves it :) perfect size for playing with Playdough (as pictured) but we've also used it for coloring and some other crafts so far! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
