Wow, long time no post. Sorry! We've been busy around here! Piper turned 6 months old, and we've had visitors! Grandma and Grandpa came to visit around Halloween, and last weekend Nana came to visit. Of course, this would make one horribly long post - so I'm going to make an effort to break it into a few pieces.
First, the stats. Piper had her 6 month checkup on her 6 month birthday. She is doing well and growing like crazy! She weighed 18 lbs 10 oz (87%), was 2' 3" tall (88%), with a head circumference of 17.5" (95%). She is sitting up on her own and puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. She has started to like her solid foods and will eat her oatmeal cereal readily. She has also had squash which she enjoyed and banana which she did not. We're starting to expand the variety of foods and have also started to make use of our baby food makers and storers again. Doc said she looks happy, healthy, and developmentally normal. She did need to get 4 'pokes' (as Colin calls them) and she was not happy about that, but otherwise she rarely cries or fusses unless hungry or tired.
Good pic of both kids!
Showing off her sitting skills
As a side note - Colin and I also got a 'poke' (flu shot) during Piper's doctor visit. Colin now pretends to give pokes by finding a washcloth, wetting it, wipes areas on us (like the alcohol swaps), and then uses the end of a USB cable (which he has draped around his neck like a stethoscope) to give us the poke. He often talks us through this, telling us we need to be brave and that it won't hurt very much. Then after the poke, he pretends to give us stickers (usually Elmo stickers) which we are to pretend to use like band-aids and gives us a pretend piece of candy to eat to feel better. Gotta love this kid!

Colin also had some fall festivities at his school. The daycare had an "imagination parade" right before Halloween. The different classrooms had different themes - his classroom was Old MacDonald. The costumes all had to be kid-made and there were lots of good examples throughout the parade. Colin's class had t-shirts which they sponge-painted and in some cases added embellishments and then hats which were made from a large sheet of paper which the kids also painted and added items to. Colin was a duck (orange paint and orange feathers) :) It was a fun couple of weeks leading up to the parade as Colin has a new interest in singing Old MacDonald and his imagination is apparent as he adds new animals to the song every time (we now sing about polar bears and mommies, etc.). Overall, he did really well with the parade. When he walked near us and saw us, he left his line to see us, but did go back to his class and walk more with his friends. They were all very cute and only a few were having some melt-downs :)
Cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks; oh my!
The teachers were tractors which the kids painted - very cute!
Ok, time to end this part of the post. I'll end with a video of Piper sitting (she's just so cute). I'll try to post the next part when Grandma and Grandpa visit soon!
