Progress

Guess who has teeth! Colin cut his first two teeth on Saturday. They are the bottom two center teeth, and they are just peeking through the gums. Luckily, he didn't seem to mind too much - we weren't even sure that he was teething. He has had excessive drool for months, and he's been gnawing on anything he can get his hands on since he started pulling things into his mouth. Guess he was teething :) After hearing nightmares about fevers and waking up at night in pain, I'm glad his first two teeth went relatively easily!

I think Colin also might be starting on his 6 month growth spurt. He's been a little more hungry than usual and I'm feeling the effects of his increased appetite. We'll find out how much he's grown next week at his 6 month checkup. I can't believe he is almost 6 months old! Time really has gone by fast. In addition to his doctor visit, we'll also be taking his 6 month photos next week :)

Colin has also started babbling. I think we first noticed syllables about a week ago, and since then he has only picked up the pace of his speech. We get lots of 'ba-ba', 'da-da', 'ga-ga', etc. He's also mixing up the syllables along with spitting with his lips and tongue to get quite the cacophony of sound going. The video gives a little demonstration of this, though it can get much louder, and with more frequent utterings.

We took a trip to the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory last week. It was a beautiful day - though Colin wasn't very impressed with the animals (yet). At least he found the Japanese garden tranquil enough to fall asleep :)

We also had some visitors this weekend. Bob's cousin Liana and her son came to visit on Sunday, and a few of my relatives stopped by for a few hours as well. It was nice to see everyone and Colin behaved admirably, especially considering he basically missed a nap :)
