Camping (Take Two)

Over the Labor Day holiday, we met the Brady's and Kuczenski's up at Lake Mille Lacs and camped at Father Hennepin State Park. We all arrived sometime on Friday and left Monday around noon. It was a really nice time. We rented a pontoon boat on Saturday and did some fishing. We didn't catch much - in fact i think only Rick and Judy even caught fish at all - and these were tiny little perch that were too small to keep.

The day was pretty nice - started out a little cloudy, but the sun came out, and then the wind came out! Our poor little pontoon boat was practically a sail and it was a little interesting getting back to the dock. Overall, it was an adventure that I think most of us would repeat!

Sunday was spent relaxing and hiking. The Brady's caught (and Rick and Sophie ate) crawdads and the rest of us went for a walk around the park. The weather was still quite blustery by the lake, but the temperature wasn't too bad.

The temperature did drop quite a bit at night. I think on Sunday night the temperature reached 37 degrees. Little cold, but even then, Colin did pretty well. We brought his little pop-up tent, piled on the blankets and he slept until around 4 am every morning, at which point we hauled him into our bed and slept for another couple hours. He really didn't complain very loudly or much at all. What a little trooper! Overall, not a bad way to end the summer :)
