Bubbles!

I wanted to post some of the cute bubble pictures we took! He loved them! Although it wasn't the first time seeing bubbles, and we've done it again since, this was the best reaction to them. :)

This weekend was a gloomy wet mess. Saturday we got almost 4 inches of rain - it just poured for hours. Then we also woke up around 2:30 am to a strobe light show of lightning with thunder, rain, and the whole works. Sunday we didn't get too much rain, but everything was a wet sloppy mess and the sun did not make an appearance. I felt somewhat relieved this morning when the sun was actually shining. I always feel like i'm coming out from under a rock after weekends like these when you are trapped inside.

Last weekend, my bob's aunt was in town on Saturday to visit. We went over for dinner and had a good time seeing her. This was only the second time she's seen Colin. She did comment that he looks a lot like Bob! Always good to visit :)

Colin has been playing a lot with 'homegrown' toys, a.k.a. things not manufactured to be toys. For example, I took a shoe box, cut some holes in the top, and gave Colin some pom-poms from Joann Fabric (1.5" diameter), and magic, new toy! He loves to push the poms through the holes, then open the box, dump them out and do it again! The poms also extended to other 'toys' such as putting them into tupperware bowls or other items with lids; seeing how many he can fit in and still put the lid on. Additionally, he found immense joy in a shallow rubbermaid container (see picture below). He will get into and out of it, put other items in it, pull them around, take them out, put them in again, then sit with them... hours of entertainment. He LOVES when Bob pulls him around in it like a wagon.

Colin has also been a lot of fun this past week. He started twirling (spinning in circles) a couple of weeks ago, and has started repeating the behavior pretty often. He also started being very interested in having me or Bob follow him, which entails grabbing our hand/finger and pulling until we come with him. He has a pretty tight grip and doesn't really care how he has you as long as you come! This is helpful behavior if he is hungry and drags you to the fridge or his highchair, but other times he just wants to show you the turtles, or a toy, or himself in the mirror.

Lastly, medically related, I had a follow-up upper endoscopy on Friday. Things went pretty well; recovery has been much faster this time. They dilated my esophagus from 9-12 mm successfully, but didn't achieve the 15 mm they wanted to, so that means another upper endoscopy is scheduled in about 6 weeks. After that endoscopy we should have a better idea of how the treatment went (I'll be done with my medication by that point) and we'll just wait and see if or when I might need another to keep my esophagus from constricting again.
