We have arrived in CA! The flight from MN to CA went pretty well, Colin managed a 30 min nap which of course we wish would've been longer, but all told it wasn't too bad - mostly because he had his own seat with his car seat which he knows he can't get out of.
We have a beautiful KIA sportage (*ahem) for the next week and our temp apartment is actually pretty nice. We have a unit that has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a washer/dryer, decent size kitchen with dishwasher/microwave/etc. It is fully furnished, but we are still missing our own items. Hopefully the boxes we packed to arrive at our temp housing will make it before or around mid-week, with everything else going into storage until we find a more 'permanent' housing for the family. Of course, I took some photos to show you the place, but we can't seem to find the camera cable that we're all but certain came with us on the plane...
We've also started to explore the area a bit. We've taken several walks on the streets around the apartment and found tons of restaurants and a few parks. So far our favorite park was Central Park. It is a really nice park full of old tall trees. It has a few separate play areas for kids of all sizes, along with a japanese garden (which we weren't able to enter because it wasn't open that morning yet), tennis courts, a rose garden, etc. Really nice and we love that it is within walking distance of the apartment. Yesterday we met up with our good friends from college, April and Nick, and drove to Half Moon Bay so that Colin could stick his toes in the Pacific ocean (the last large body of water surrounding the U.S. that he's visited). He had a great time at the beach and we enjoyed the company :) We are looking forward to having many more visits in the near future. We had a bonus find with a really good thai restaurant practically on our front door for dinner last night!
I'll work on photos soon as we find the camera cable!
