P-Day

Packing day that is. Packers from Allied Van are in the townhouse busily putting all of our belongings into boxes for transport then storage. Bob and I managed to do quite a bit of sorting and organizing prior to their arrival in the past few days, but there is always more to do! Colin and I are trying hard to stay out of the way - going on walks, trying unsuccessfully to go to the indoor playground near our house. He is especially into piggy back rides lately. He'll walk for a bit, but then asks to be picked up. Watch out if you pick him up and he really wants a piggy back ride, because he'll 'pat' your head indicating he wants to be up higher, and if he's not careful it ends up more like a whap! But it is pretty cute - he likes to 'steer' or rather use his hands to point the directly in which he wants to go with emphatic 'ahs' to emphasize the point.

We got up early this morning to go get our rental car for the next several days, and as I write this, our car is being 'packed' up and readied for transport from its respective shipping company. The pets are also being picked up later today, so hopefully by the end of the day we will only have people to load trucks with boxes tomorrow morning, and Bob and I will just need to clean out the apartment (while Judy has Colin for the day - which aught to speed up the process). We will officially be homeless tomorrow which is very strange at the moment. We are both excited for Thursday when we officially head to CA!

Meanwhile, Colin has turned 18 months old! He had his 18 month check-up this past week and he is checking in very well. He is still average in most measurements, a little light in the weight category (25 lb 3 oz) and a little heavy in the height (2'9.1" - up to 70% now!). He seems to be in very good spirits despite his world getting turned upside down. We'll see how he's doing in a few days - but since we are staying at Nana's house now until Thursday, i doubt he'll notice any changes here :) He was in an especially good mood yesterday; playing with his toys pretty independently so that Mom and Dad could get some packing/organizing done. Gotta love this kid :)

In other news, Colin has recently become a fruititarian. He was on a bit of a fruit strike for the past 6 month or so (except for his first and always love of bananas), but has recently enjoyed blueberries, pears, and cherries - all of which he has turned his nose up at and refused to eat previously. Not sure what spurred the change, but we'll take it! He's also added a few 'words' to his repertoire, the cutest of which is 'uh-oh'. He'll drop something, then look up and say 'uh-oh' with the correct inflection and everything. Of course, after that point, he often repeats the 'uh-oh' in a loop several times. He says it often for bob and I, but has yet to repeat it for Nana or Papa. Still waiting for the day when he'll say Mama or Dada and mean it... but surely the day is not far off ;)

Well, that is the quick update of our family for now. I'll try to get to posting some pictures in the next day or so!
